'Recuerdos' Window Displays at Boom Concepts

Fall 2020

The Fall session of TeenBloc had students participate in a project that educated students and enabled them to educate and inspire others by narrating their experiences and observations of how today’s societal heaviness impacts them as individuals and as students.

“Recuerdos” is Spanish for “Memory” and is a type of memorial used during the tradition of El Dia de Los Muertos. So, how does that tie into advocacy?

During this course, the students focused on learning about installation art and local politics. The work the students create was installed in the windows of Boom Concepts in Garfield for others to observe and experience. Students were trained in visual communication, sculpting, and applying critical thinking to visual expression.
