ABOUT
You have heard of A+ Schools. Through our annual Report to the Community on Public School Progress, our workshops for Parent Nation and the TeenBloc program, and our advocacy efforts through Board Watch, we have been grounded in Pittsburgh’s educational community for the past 15 years.
More recently, through a combination of careful strategic planning and an eruption of need when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, we realized the focus of our day-to-day work needed to shift in order to more directly achieve actual school-level change for our community’s families.
Project +Us was born out of this shift. We cannot keep serving our students the same way. If we want to narrow Pittsburgh’s educational equity gap, we need to widen participation in change and work collaboratively with our communities to build a network of support that ensures ALL children receive a quality education.
A+ Schools has not gone away. We remain deeply grounded in the belief that ALL children, regardless of their zip code or socio-economic status, deserve a high-quality education that prepares them for college, career, and life. We will continue to utilize data, research, and policy to analyze how schools are succeeding and will provide this information in easy-to-follow formats for our partnering non-profits, regional policymakers, and families to utilize.
